Following a successful decade as a video and photojournalist in news and advocacy sectors, Lauren found her home in documentary filmmaking in 2015. She has since delivered award-winning independent and commissioned documentary features and series. Her roles have spanned the filmmaking value chain; from head of production, managing crews around Africa and the globe, to commissioning content for series contracts, and excelling as a development producer, line producer and post producer. Notable titles include WHISPERING TRUTH TO POWER (Production Manager), INFLUENCE (Line Producer & Head of Production), GHOST OF GADDAFI (Co-Producer), the Netflix series SENZO: MURDER OF A SOCCER STAR (Series & Line Producer) and 28 episodes for CGTN’s FACES OF AFRICA series. She is actively committed to transformation within the local film industry, having served on the b board of the Documentary Filmmakers Association (DFA), where she is a regular volunteer for docLOVE and docSHARE. She currently serves on the board of the Independent Producers Organisation (IPO) where she Deputy Chairs the Transformation Subcommittee and Membership Subcommittee. Her journalism and advocacy routes remain a solid foundation to her ethos as a filmmaker, motivating her to prioritise message-driven content that creates debate, challenges norms and breaks new ground.
